From Libby Shannon, Chair of the Presbytery Coordinating Team and Chaplain at Eckerd College:
Friends in Christ;
On Friday, February 15, beginning at 2:30pm I invite you to join me in surrounding Ashley Parsons, a candidate for ministry in this presbytery and a child of Palma Ceia Presbyterian Church, with your prayers. I will offer prayers on behalf of the presbytery via Facebook at facebook.com/libbyshannon and encourage all who are able, to join me virtually or in the quiet of your own day.
Nearly two and a half years ago Ashley was diagnosed with stage four colorectal cancer; this week her care has been shifted to hospice in Houston where she and her family live.
Ashley and I met during my first year as a student at Eckerd College and for as long as I’ve known her she has been led by faith and the certainty that she is a beloved child of God; as she faces this next phase she continues to find peace in that assurance. I hope you’ll take time during the coming days to surround Ashley, her husband Ryan, their two young boys, and all of her friends and family with your prayers.
