Presbytery of Tampa Bay

About

Who We Are

The Presbytery of Tampa Bay is a theologically diverse and geographically wide-reaching community committed to strengthening Christ’s Church through relationship, shared mission, and faithful leadership. Everything we do is rooted in our identity as a connectional, Christ-centered body of congregations and leaders.

Meaningfully  Connected

We believe the health of our congregations is strengthened through genuine relationships with one another. By fostering deeper regional connections and sharing stories, knowledge, and resources, we become better equipped to serve in our local contexts. Our structure reflects this commitment: regular regional gatherings and storytelling efforts help cultivate connection across our large and diverse presbytery.

Unapologetically  Christ-Centered

At the heart of our life together is a deep and unwavering devotion to Jesus Christ. We believe growth—both personal and congregational—begins with Christ and is sustained by Christ. As a Presbytery, our ministries, gatherings, and discernment are all grounded in a desire to honor and serve Christ faithfully in all things.

Relentlessly  Congregational

We exist to serve and strengthen the congregations within our bounds—not the other way around. Our structure is designed to elevate local leadership, support congregational vitality, and share responsibility across a broad and gifted base of Ruling and Teaching Elders. Through the Commission on Church Vitality and other initiatives, we invest in helping churches grow in both spirit and witness.

Faithfully  Constitutional

We honor our Presbyterian identity by conducting our work decently and in order. Every structural change and leadership model we adopt is rooted in the Book of Order and reflects our commitment to shared governance. By empowering regional commissions to act with delegated authority, we aim to respond more quickly and effectively to the needs of our churches—while staying grounded in who we are.
