Late last year the Presbyterian Church of Honduras received a Birthday Offering from Presbyterian Women. The grant of $100,000 is for the purchase of Villa Gracia, the retreat center that was developed by Tim and Gloria Wheeler over the course of 15 years. As the Wheelers retired, they offered the 45-bed center to the church at less than half the appraised value. They hoped that its use by mission teams, training and local church retreats would continue. Villa Gracia will be managed by the Presbyterian Women of Honduras as a ministry and source of sustainable income. The property has been turned over to the women even as they work to raise the remaining $70,000. The Honduran Network, consisting of the Presbyteries of Tampa Bay, Providence, Carlisle and Arkansas, is helping the PW of Honduras raise the funds. If individuals or churches would like more information, contact Rev. David Gill (dgill@ferncliff.org) who is heading up the effort for the Network.
