Regional Commissions:
The Regional Commission Packets are now available! Please forward this email to your church’s commissioners so that they can be prepared for the meeting.
Remember that for Regional Commission meetings, your church is not limited to only bringing Commissioners; anyone interested in the topics is encouraged to attend.
For the upcoming meetings, the main theme will be disaster preparedness, including human caused disasters. We’ll also have a first reading of the Presbytery Manual of Operations.
About the Manual of Operations:
This will be a “first read” which means that it is an opportunity to provide feedback and make changes prior to the Presbytery meeting, where a final vote will take place. The Manual itself is 90% material that the Presbytery has already approved in the past, but having it all in one place in this document is required by our bylaws. Once approved, it will go up on the website as a Presbytery resource.
I would pay special attention to these parts which are new: Child and Youth Protection policy on pages 37-39 and Presbytery Meeting Policies on page 19, which while not entirely new, were suspended several years ago for procedural reasons and have not been in force for some time.
